What are the minimum requirements to use ChartsConnect?

To get started you'll need:

• A stable internet connection
• An MT4 or MT5 account with a supported broker (for Forex execution)
• A paid TradingView account (to set up your chart alerts) if you are creating strategies from TradingView
• A VPS is strongly recommended to keep MT4/MT5 running 24/7 without relying on your personal computer

Do I need to install any software?

The ChartsConnect platform itself is entirely browser-based — no installation needed. However, for Forex trade execution you'll need to install the ChartsConnect EA (Expert Advisor) inside your MT4/MT5 terminal. This is a one-time setup that takes about 5 minutes, and we have step-by-step guides to walk you through it.

What is an Automation (Algo) in the platform?

An Automation (also called an Algo) is your trading workflow. It connects your signal source (e.g. TradingView alert or Telegram signal) to your execution destination (e.g. your MT4/MT5 broker, Binance account, or Telegram account). Think of it as a rule that says: "When the source fires this alert, send this trade to this destination." You can have multiple automations running at the same time.

How do I create my first automation?

It only takes a few minutes:

• For beginners, we recommend starting with one of the strategies in our AlgoVault. You can see the backtest results and automate it immediately by connecting your MT4/MT5 account with your desired risk per trade in the Expert Advisor.
• If you have received a Signal Token from a fellow ChartsConnect user, you can automate it straight away by clicking "Create a New Automation" in the top right corner of the dashboard, selecting "Trade with Signal Token", pasting the Signal Token you received, and giving it a name for your reference. Next, connect your MT4/MT5 account and set your desired risk per trade in the Expert Advisor.
• For more advanced users, we have robust and comprehensive tools to let you design your strategy on TradingView. Connect your TradingView account under Tools & Access > Access Manager and input your TradingView username to access our proprietary indicator and strategy builder in TradingView. Next, connect your MT4/MT5 account with your desired Expert Advisor (EA). We have Risk Reward Mode EA and Dynamic Layering Mode EA to manage your trade signals on MT4/MT5. You can set your risk management settings in the Expert Advisor.

Can I use MT4 with ChartsConnect?

Yes — both MT4 and MT5 are supported, including broker-branded versions. We recommend always using the latest version of your terminal to ensure compatibility. If you run into issues with an older broker build, download the latest version directly from your broker or from MetaQuotes.
